STT (or Surface Tension Transfer) and RMD (Regulated Metal Deposition) welding techniques enable the quick, precise control of the flow of current and the level of heat during the welding process.

STT/RMD welding allows for better penetration of the metal and stronger fushion of the materials, stregthening the seal of the weld and increasing its longevity.

Benefits of STT/RMD welding include:

  • Increased fusion
  • Good puddle control
  • Consistent, high-quality welds
  • Faster training time for technicians
  • Low production of fumes and spatter

Of the welding techniques used at legion, this process is the…

A small molten ball is produced and is drawn into the metal “puddle”, which is controlled by electric current to ensure the material doesn’t spatter so the welder can maintain a consistent puddle size and depth.

This method also drastically reduces the fumes and material spatter (roughly 60% less smoke and 90% less spatter) that are generally produced through other forms of welding, making this technique safer and easier to work with.

Some devices, when paired with STT/RMD, allow for even faster weld production and increase the fusion of metals. This method is ideal for light gauge stainless steel.
